Leader in the uranium industry: Kazakhstan entered the top twenty countries in raw material extraction
Over the year, 109.8 million tons of coal were extracted in the republic
Kazakhstan ranked 12th in the global ranking for mineral extraction (metals, industrial minerals, precious stones, coal, and oil) with a figure of 295.8 million tons. This is evidenced by RankingRoyals infographics, based on data from the Austrian Ministry of Finance.

Most of the extraction accounted for oil, gas, and coal. In 2024, hydrocarbon extraction amounted to 87.7 million tons, where almost 75 million tons were crude oil and 12.6 million tons were gas condensate. The largest fields are Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak. In addition, the extraction of natural and associated gas increased to 59.2 billion cubic meters.
The coal industry also showed growth. Over the year, 109.8 million tons of coal were extracted in Kazakhstan. The republic remains the largest producer of uranium, accounting for over 40% of the world's total production. In 2024, field development yielded 23,270 tons of uranium.
It is specified that in metallurgy, an increase in the production of copper ore (more than 160 million tons) and refined copper (465.7 thousand tons) was recorded. Crude steel output grew to 4.18 million tons.
