AI to help control coal supplies to regions for heating season
Algorithm will predict potential fuel shortage risks
A unified digital platform with elements of artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics (forecasting) will help control the movement of coal for the population and the communal and household sector. This was announced at a meeting of the government of Kazakhstan by Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov.

The demand for coal for the upcoming heating season is estimated at 7.3 million tons, of which 5.7 million tons are for the population. According to the head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, in the past heating season, the actual coal consumption amounted to 8.3 million tons. The decrease in volume is due to the increase in the number of gasified settlements.
The Unified Digital Platform integrated data from 36 coal mining enterprises, information on coal transportation by rail, and data on more than 1.2 million consumers.
Fuel will be transported in 29 thousand gondola cars. The system allows tracking the movement of transport in real time. In addition, the algorithm can predict the risks of shortages and deviations from approved supply schedules.
