Sapar the robot conductor deployed to help passengers connect to satellite internet
Digital ecosystem of passenger train presented in Astana
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy company has implemented a large-scale project, equipping passenger trains with Starlink satellite internet. The digital infrastructure has covered over 1,500 carriages on 51 routes, providing access to high-speed communication for more than 11 million passengers. The results of the project were announced at the Nurly Zhol station in Astana, according to the national carrier's press service.

During the presentation, train conductors connected to the event online while en route and demonstrated the onboard Wi-Fi.
Passengers can use satellite internet for free. The basic package includes sending text messages in messengers, while paid packages are offered for sending photos, videos, and voice messages.
Sapar the robot conductor was involved in the presentation. He greeted passengers and explained how to connect to satellite internet and use the new features.
Access to Starlink in Kazakhstan ensures the operation of modern technological solutions. Satellite communication combines onboard Wi-Fi networks, inter-carriage connections, and centralized equipment management.

KTZ is also developing the "National Passenger Transportation System". Merey Ernurov, Head of the Digital Transformation Directorate at BTS Digital, explained that it will combine data on passengers, trains, tickets, routes, and services. Passengers will gain access to the service through the SuperApp mobile application.
Digitalization of the railway helps to analyze passenger traffic, study demand, and evaluate service quality. Data integration also contributes to identifying and solving systemic problems, KTZ concluded.
