The national carrier "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) is transitioning to active operation of the intelligent automated freight train control system Trip Optimizer. It operates on the principle of cruise control, the KTZ press service reported.

Today, 425 locomotives are equipped with it. More than 4 million km have been covered in automatic mode.

In addition, railway workers plan to scale up the Kinetix system with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which monitors the condition of wagons while in motion. Kinetix has already checked over 4.6 million axles, identifying over 17.6 thousand defects, including 448 critical ones.

Thanks to the system, the time for technical inspection at the station has been reduced by 30%, and the volume of manual measurements by 70%. It will be implemented in 6 directions: Pavlodar, Tobol, Arys, Dostyk, Altynkol, Sekseul, and Shalkar. Kinetix will help create a unified digital circuit for rolling stock diagnostics on international and transit routes, the press service concluded.
