Digital libraries, "smart" stops: Smart City development methodology changed in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan approved a new version of the Methodology for building Smart City/ Smart Region. The document defined unified approaches to digital transformation based on AI, data, and modern technologies. This was reported by the press service of the relevant department.

The methodology will help transition from implementing individual digital projects to creating an intelligent system for managing territories. This refers to unified architectural and functional requirements.

New directions for digital development have been included in the list:

• drone infrastructure
• monitoring the cost of socially significant goods
• dual-purpose poles with digital infrastructure
• monitoring internet accessibility in educational institutions;
• digitalization of Maslikhats' work;
• development of regional IT hubs and district IT centers.

In addition, Smart Cities should build "smart" bus stop complexes, open digital museums and libraries, conduct 3D/VR tours, and apply new methods for monitoring the quality of roads.

Thanks to regional analytical centers and Data Lake, intelligent services will predict certain events. This approach will help implement an AI-Native model for regional management.
