Two-step verification should be enabled to log in to the application

News

Fraudsters have become more active in Kazakhstan, attempting to gain access to citizens' WhatsApp messenger accounts. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic explained how to protect personal data.

First, you need to activate two-step verification. To do this, go to "Settings", select "Account", and click "Enable" "Two-step verification". Next, you need to set a PIN code and specify your email address (to restore access).

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan advised checking connected devices in the "Linked Devices" section. If you find an unknown gadget in the list, click on it and select "Log Out".

What to do to prevent your WhatsApp account from being hacked

  • never share confirmation codes with anyone
  • do not open unknown links
  • do not install applications downloaded from unknown sources

Unknown devices connecting, messages being sent without your participation, and receiving SMS messages with codes without your request, as well as arbitrary logging out of the account, indicate that the messenger account has been hacked, summarized the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
