First-ever manned flight: EH216-S drone takes to the skies in Astana

The aircraft reaches speeds of up to 130 km/h

An electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drone EH216-S with a passenger on board performed a flight over Astana as part of the "Games of the Future 2026" tournament. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

This is the first such flight with a passenger in the history of Kazakhstan.

The ministry emphasized that the EH216-S drone is planned to be used for flights lasting up to 30 minutes over natural, cultural, and historical attractions of Kazakhstan. Subsequently, such transportation will become part of the republic's transport infrastructure.

  • delivery of medicines
  • firefighting
  • logistics

The authorities of Kazakhstan are counting on the localization of production of passenger unmanned aerial systems. This will help form competencies in high-tech mechanical engineering and expand cooperation with other countries.
