Baggage transportation digitized in Kazakhstan
Pilot project already launched on railway
Students of Astana IT University, in cooperation with "Passenger Transportation" JSC, have developed a digital system for convenient processing and tracking of passenger and cargo baggage. This was announced by the company's press service.
The pilot project started at the end of May 2026. It is being implemented on the route of train No. 9/10 "Nurly Zhol – Almaty-2". It covers the baggage departments of the "Nurly Zhol", "Karaganda" and "Almaty-2" stations.
The new digital system is aimed at increasing the transparency of operations, simplifying the accounting of baggage and cargo baggage, and minimizing the human factor in processing transportation.
The platform supports operation through a station operator, as well as self-service scenarios based on WMS (warehouse management system). After testing the technology, "Passenger Transportation" JSC plans to implement the service in all baggage departments.
