Hybrid Power Plant to be Launched in Zhanaozen by the End of 2026

Head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan Akkenzhenov Held Negotiations with the Italian Ambassador

The company Eni is building a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 247 MW in Zhanaozen. The Head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, and the Italian Ambassador, Antonello De Riu, discussed the project's implementation, according to the ministry's press service.

The facility combines:

  • solar
  • wind
  • maneuverable gas generation

In September 2025, a solar station with 80,000 panels was launched. By the end of 2026, workers will complete the construction of the gas and wind power plants.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to expanding the resource base.

In January of this year, QazaqGaz and Eni moved to the practical phase of exploring the "Kamenkovsky" block in the Caspian basin.

At the same time, a petrochemical cluster is being developed. The Italian company Maire Tecnimont has led the consortium for the implementation of the "Polyethylene" project. Installation work has begun on the polymerization unit, and construction work has started on the gas separation complex.

Thanks to the partnership with Ansaldo Energia, the latest gas turbines will be installed at CHP-3 in Almaty. The equipment has already been delivered to the energy facility.
