AI in the Service of Farmers: Yessenov University Invents an Animal Monitoring System
The research is being conducted at the Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
Scientists at Yessenov University have developed an intelligent system for monitoring the behavior and physiological condition of farm animals. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
Students from the Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence took part in the scientific project. They presented a feed dispenser with a computer vision module, a stationary video monitoring system, and a mobile robotic platform for analyzing the condition of animals.
The goal is to develop a digital animal monitoring platform based on computer vision, AI, and robotics technologies.
With the help of this development, the scientists planned to overcome limitations and production risks in livestock farming in the Mangystau Region.
The system automatically analyzes animal monitoring data according to the following parameters:
- motor activity
- feed consumption
- group behavior
- signs of stress
- changes in physical condition
Scientists at Yessenov University tested the system under real production conditions. It is expected to help farmers transition to a data-driven farm management model.
