Up to 30% useful fractions: the first stage of the waste processing plant launched in Pavlodar
The sorting center's capacity is 150 thousand tons of solid waste per year
The first stage of the waste processing plant has been launched in Pavlodar region. The sorting center's capacity will be 150 thousand tons of solid household waste (SHW) per year. This was reported by the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan with reference to the regional akimat.
Authorities in Kazakhstan are working to reduce the burden on the environment. The focus is on implementing the principles of a circular economy, where secondary resources are returned to economic circulation, said Asain Baikhanov, Akim of Pavlodar Region.
We are not stopping there. We plan to continue reconstructing SHW landfills, as well as developing waste processing in Ekibastuz, Aksu, in large settlements and district centers.
The plant will extract about 30% of useful fractions from the general waste stream: plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, aluminum cans, and other types of secondary raw materials. This will reduce the volume of waste for landfilling.
According to the akimat, almost 110 thousand tons of SHW are generated in Pavlodar annually. All waste is planned to be sent to the sorting line. Another 60 thousand tons of organic waste will be processed by composting. The resulting technical soil will be used for landscaping settlements in the region.
Investments in the project amounted to almost 5 billion tenge, 2.5 billion tenge is a loan from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF), the rest are investor funds.
The waste processing plant is planned to be expanded. The second line provides for the production of final products from secondary raw materials, for example, curbs and paving slabs.
