96 solar panels with a total capacity of 59 kW have been installed on the roof of the Alikhan Bokeikhan University campus (Semey). The project aims to use renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency, the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan reported.

The design capacity of the solar power plant will be about 60 thousand kWh of electricity per year. This will cover up to 50% of the electricity needs of the connected facilities. As a result, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 31 tons.

The solar power plant will be used not only to meet the energy needs of the university but also as a practical base for educational and research processes.
