Kazakhstan's authorities continue to attract foreign air carriers to expand the geography of international flights. Hong Kong's national company Cathay Pacific will operate flights to Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the republic reported.
To this end, a meeting was held between Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, and Oliver Coelho, Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong) Regional Manager for the Middle East.
According to Coelho, the airline plans to launch cargo flights to Astana. Starting August 1, their frequency will be 5 times a week on Boeing-747 aircraft. From January 2027, the carrier intends to begin regular passenger services from Hong Kong to Almaty. The flight frequency will be 3 times a week on Airbus-330 aircraft.
Saltanat Tompiyeva stated Kazakhstan's readiness to provide the necessary assistance in implementing this project. Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to complete the necessary procedures for launching direct flights.
The press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan emphasized that the opening of new routes will help develop trade and economic ties and strengthen tourist connections. This will also improve logistics chains between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.
