The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is exploring the possibility of introducing unmanned technologies into the republic's transport system. A presentation of robotaxis from Yandex Qazaqstan took place in Almaty, attended by Vice Minister Damir Kozhakhmetov. This was reported by the press service of the department.

The unmanned vehicle control system will be based on proven approaches to autonomous driving, including AI, continuous monitoring of road conditions, and well-thought-out scenarios for safe response.

The robotaxi project will be launched in stages. It is planned to start with a pilot mode for testing the technology. This will allow testing the new type of transport in real conditions.

Trips will be insured and will be carried out under the control of dispatchers. Subsequently, the service will be scaled up.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is preparing amendments to the legislation that will define the main provisions regarding the functioning of robotaxis. The authorities will also take into account international experience in implementing unmanned transport.

Pilot projects with robotaxis may be launched in Almaty and Astana. These cities have a developed digital infrastructure necessary for the implementation of intelligent transport systems.
