Kazakhstanis will be able to easily opt out of operator mailings
MIICR to strengthen subscriber rights protection
The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan (MIICR) has prepared an order that amends the rules for providing communication services. The document is aimed at protecting the rights of subscribers in the digital environment. This was reported by the press service of the department.
In particular, subscribers will be able to connect additional paid communication and internet services only with double consent. Confirmation can come in one of the following ways: to a personal account, via SMS message, call, or USSD request.
In addition, operators are completely prohibited from using short “beacon” calls to notify about missed calls.
Previously, this service could only be disabled if it was deactivated for both subscribers (the one who made the call and the one who was called). Now “beacons” have been replaced by SMS notifications. Kazakhstanis can also opt out of any advertising and informational mailings from operators.
The order of the Ministry of AI and Digital Development of Kazakhstan tightens security measures for registering numbers for children under 14 years of age. The procedure must be completed by the child's legal representatives using biometrics. One minor is allowed one number.
The changes come into force on June 28. The department believes that they will help improve the quality of services provided by communication operators.
