Schoolboy from Kazakhstan developed an AI-powered cancer detection system
The software was presented at the Regeneron ISEF 2026 exhibition in the USA
Arnur Artykbay, an 11th-grade student at the Intellectual School of Taraz, developed a system for automatic detection of malignant tumors based on machine learning. He received a special prize at the Regeneron ISEF 2026 World Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan.
The project is aimed at early diagnosis of oncological diseases using AI technologies. For his development, the schoolboy received a prize of 400 dollars, as well as an educational grant from the University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia.
Nearly 1700 young engineers from more than 60 countries participated in the competition. Kazakhstan was represented by 7 schoolchildren with 5 scientific projects.
Regeneron ISEF is an authoritative platform for presenting scientific and engineering projects by students. It is supported by leading universities and foundations, including the MAWHIBA Foundation from Saudi Arabia. Kazakhstan has been participating in the competition since 1999.
