Timur Serikov, Professor of the Department of Physics and Nanotechnology at Y. Buketov Karaganda National Research University (Karaganda Buketov University), studies functional nanomaterials for photocatalysis and dye-sensitized solar cells. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.

Karaganda Buketov University

Since 2019, the professor and a team of researchers have been developing nanostructures for photocatalytic water splitting, as well as creating nanocomposites based on perovskites and one-dimensional structures. Some of the Kazakh scientist's projects are being implemented jointly with colleagues from Riga Technical University and Lomonosov Moscow State University, which promotes experience exchange.

Where research results can be applied:

  • "green" energy
  • hydrogen energy
  • environmental safety

The ministry's press service emphasized that Serikov's developments will be useful in the production of hydrogen transport and in fuel cell technologies. His work makes a great contribution to the development of renewable energy sources.
