Defect AI, a startup from Kazakhstan (a resident of the Astana Hub technology hub), has joined the spring cohort of the StartX acceleration program at Stanford University. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan.

The team developed an intelligent platform for maintaining documentation in accordance with orders of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Health. The AI assistant analyzes records and informs the doctor about current regulatory acts. More than 30 medical institutions across the republic already use Defect AI’s product.

The solution was inspired by the OpenEvidence platform — the Defect AI team met with its founder at Stanford.

The AI assistant is presented on the international market under the brand Rette. At the end of 2025, Defect AI closed its first investment round.

The Kazakh team is now actively developing the platform for the American market and onboarding its first foreign clients. The next investment round is planned for spring 2026.

Our team’s mission is to make administrative processes in healthcare simpler, the incentive system fairer, and medical care higher in quality.
Sanzhar Myrzagalym, co-founder of Defect AI

Defect AI’s admission to StartX indicates the high competitiveness of Kazakh projects in the global market.
