Space Days Kazakhstan Forum Kicks Off in Astana
The event is hosted by Nazarbayev University
The international forum Space Days Kazakhstan opened on September 7 at Nazarbayev University in Astana. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, space agencies, scientists, investors, and experts, according to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.
The theme of this year's forum is the development of space technologies and global cooperation in space. Zhaslan Madiyev, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, stated that he expects practical results from Space Days Kazakhstan – specific agreements and new projects.
Three key priorities – data, technology, and people – will allow Kazakhstan to create competitive space products and services.
According to him, space should serve the interests of humanity and be a space for peaceful cooperation, uniting countries around common goals. Space technologies can help economic development and improve people's quality of life, he added.
In particular, by 2030, an international constellation of Earth remote sensing satellites will be created. It will include 9 spacecraft, 6 of which will be Kazakhstani. In the future, the number of satellites may increase to 14.
Kazakhstan also plans to replace the KazSat-3 satellite with KazSat-3R. This will make the national satellite communication system more stable. Spacecraft will also be exported to other countries.
