The automated passport control system Q-Gate is being scaled up in Kazakhstan. Currently, terminals for checking citizens' biometric data are operating at 11 checkpoints, including the airports of Astana and Almaty, said Duman Sembaev, General Director of OOO "Kazdream Special Systems".
A total of 54 Q-Gate terminals are operating in the country. The system verifies passengers in 15–50 seconds, which is 5 times faster than traditional control methods.
The developers emphasized that the implementation of Q-Gate has accelerated aircraft boarding. For example, checking a flight with 200 passengers will take about 7 minutes.
The terminal provides contactless border crossing for citizens aged 16 and over without contacting border service employees.
The press service of the Government of Kazakhstan noted that another 198 terminals will be installed by 2028. Developers are also working on algorithms for contactless control of foreigners.
