Digital Platform for Students with Disabilities Developed at KazNU
The project interested employees of the National Scientific Center for the Development of Social Protection
Students from the Faculty of Information Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) have created an inclusive digital platform. It will be accessible to students with disabilities. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
The project was implemented as part of the students' practical training. The initiative was supported by the Department of Information Technologies and the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development.
Dilara Urmanova, Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute, stated that this is the first full-fledged project of its kind in the country, implemented with the participation of students with disabilities. Students with hearing and visual impairments, and cerebral palsy worked on the digital product. The platform's interface was specially adapted for students with disabilities, she added.
As part of the practical training, the entire development cycle was completed: from requirements analysis and architecture design to the launch of the finished platform. The web resource also includes sections with news and media, an event calendar, and a blog.
The project interested specialists from the National Scientific Center for the Development of Social Protection. It can be scaled up to the republican social protection sector to make information more accessible to people with disabilities.
