Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, during a trip to Akmola Region, inspected flood prevention measures in the Astrakhan, Shortandy, Arshaly, Tselinograd, and Atbasar districts. This was reported by the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan.
Since March 15, flood prevention headquarters have been operating around the clock. For the purpose of continuous monitoring, 19 drones have been deployed in hazardous areas.
In total, flood prevention measures in Akmola Region are being carried out in 163 populated localities and on 32 road sections. Flooding threats were identified in 70 populated localities, and the necessary measures were taken.
The government press service added that civil protection service personnel are on high alert. The authorities involved 2,500 people in the operations, deployed more than 1,000 units of equipment, about 400 motor pumps, and 37 watercraft.
According to modeling in the "Tasqyn" information system, populated localities in the Astrakhan, Atbasar, and Bulandy districts are in the risk zone.
Kazhydromet expects that the peak of the flood season in the region will come after March 30. Bozumbayev instructed that snow be removed around the clock, riverbeds be cleared, and a reserve of equipment and materials be prepared. The authorities of Akmola Region are also responsible for informing the public in the event of potential danger.
