Beeline Kazakhstan and Starlink Mobile have launched satellite mobile communication using Direct to Cell technology. Subscribers will be able to use communication services in areas without coverage, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic reported.
In November 2025, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry and Beeline Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation on the implementation of Direct to Cell technology, and in December, the first practical tests took place.
The head of the department, Zhaslan Madiyev, announced that Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia where Direct to Cell technology has reached the level of subscriber service. Satellite mobile communication will bring real benefits to Kazakhstanis, he emphasized.
Users' phones will connect to Starlink Mobile (Direct to Cell) satellites without special equipment. Subscribers will also be able to send and receive messages. During the promotional period from Beeline Kazakhstan, the service will be provided free of charge.
How to use the service
Connection to Starlink Mobile is available for devices running on Android OS. It is necessary to update the Janymda application, activate the Starlink service, and enable data roaming in the phone settings.
In the absence of terrestrial coverage, the user must select the Beeline Starlink network. This network may also be displayed under the number 401 04.
The press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan emphasized that this technology is very important for the republic with its vast territories. It can be used by utility workers and specialists who work far from large settlements.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry. The basis for cooperation was an agreement between Starlink and VEON (which owns a controlling stake in Beeline Kazakhstan).
