Starlink satellite internet to be available on 124 train compositions by the end of September

Access to Starlink satellite internet has been provided on 50 train compositions operating on 31 routes. By the end of September, 124 compositions on 50 routes will be connected to it, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported.

The introduction of satellite internet is aimed at improving passenger comfort and service quality and creating a modern digital environment on trains.

The satellite channel provides internet access at speeds up to 100 Mbps. The low-orbit Starlink constellation allows for uninterrupted connection even in areas where terrestrial network coverage is limited.

The press service explained that railway passengers will be able to get a basic package for free. It includes messaging in WhatsApp and Telegram messengers.

A wide range of internet services is offered at various tariffs. The appearance of satellite internet on trains will contribute to the development of information and digital services, the department concluded.
