Starting from September 1, 2026, a pilot project for the implementation of artificial intelligence in small schools has been launched in Kazakhstan. AI technologies are already being used in educational institutions in Pavlodar and Kyzylorda regions, the press service of the republic's government reported.
The pilot covered 10 schools, where training was organized for 50 fourth-grade students. Students are taught mathematics, digital literacy, Kazakh, and Russian languages using AI technologies.
A significant step was the agreement signed yesterday in Urumqi (PRC) on the phased scaling of the project between the Kazakh AI company Q.AI and the international company 01.AI.
Teachers conduct lessons remotely from a studio at the Orleu National Center for Professional Development. Local teachers are also present at the lessons in rural schools. They monitor students' activity using digital tools.
The AI platform itself was deployed at JSC "National Information Technologies" (NIT), using the computing power of the Kazakh supercomputer cluster.
It is expected that by January 2027, the number of schools covered by the project will increase to 50. By July 2028, AI technologies will be extended to almost 2.6 thousand small schools in the republic.
