A major hackathon, HackAlem AI, which will bring together thousands of developers from Kazakhstan and other countries, will be held in Astana on September 23. OpenAI is a partner of the event. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic.
HackAlem AI participants will gain access to OpenAI technological resources worth up to $1 million to develop and launch their own AI solutions.
The total prize fund will be $1.1 million. The results will be announced at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum.
Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, stated that holding a hackathon of this level is an important step in the development of the country's AI ecosystem. The authorities of the republic are striving to create conditions for programmers to gain access to advanced technologies to scale them in the global market.
Within HackAlem AI, developers will go through all stages of product creation: from idea to a working application. Teams will solve real business, economic, and government challenges.
Individuals aged 18 and over can apply to participate in the hackathon. It is necessary to have an education in the relevant field or confirm one's competencies. HackAlem AI winners will be able to find partners and launch their product in pilot mode.
