Free access to WhatsApp and Telegram or a paid plan: KTZ trains now have satellite internet

Passengers on a number of railway routes in Kazakhstan are being provided with access to satellite internet. The service is actively being scaled up. This was announced at a meeting with carriers, according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

Routes with internet access:

  • Kyzylorda – Pavlodar
  • Zhezkazgan – Astana
  • Astana – Semey
  • Almaty – Dostyk
  • Kyzylorda – Kokshetau

The use of satellite communication ensures stable internet access even in areas without mobile network coverage. To connect to the service, passengers must select the Wi-Fi network on the train and log in. They are offered free access to WhatsApp and Telegram messengers or a paid plan with unlimited traffic.

The press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan stated that carriers have been instructed to accelerate the pace of implementing the internet access service on trains. This work must be completed by the end of 2026.
