The international scientific center, Center for One Health Research, was opened at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU). It was established under the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan (NAN RK) in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the republic.
The activities of the international scientific center will be aimed at developing joint scientific research in the field of the "One Health" concept, ensuring biological safety, microbiology, veterinary medicine, and public health.
The opening ceremony of the center was attended by the President of NAN RK Akhylbek Kurishbayev, CAS academician Gao Fu, leading Chinese scientists and experts. A memorandum of cooperation was signed at the event between NAN RK, the Institute of Microbiology of CAS, Zhejiang University, and KazNARU.
According to the document, the parties plan to engage in joint scientific projects, develop teacher and student mobility, and promote the One Health concept. The new center will conduct Kazakh-Chinese research, including in the fields of microbiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food, and biological safety.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan expects that the center will strengthen scientific partnership between Kazakhstan and China, expand KazNARU's international ties, and help create modern infrastructure to combat global threats.
