Specialists from the Chinese company China Harbour Engineering Company have completed geodesic surveys for dredging the waters of the Aktau seaport. The project is being implemented to improve navigation safety and increase the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
The contracting organization is preparing the dredging fleet and special equipment. A retaining dam is being built on the reclamation map section (necessary for soil storage). Workers have backfilled 680 m of soil; the total length of the hydraulic structure will be 785 m.
Major dredging operations will begin after July 15. The project will be completed by the end of 2026.
It is expected that the navigable draft (vessel immersion depth) in the Aktau port waters will increase to 7 m. This will allow vessels to be fully loaded.
