Kazakhstan proposed to EAEU countries to join forces and launch a network of joint AI laboratories based at universities to share industry data. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Ministry of AI and Digital Development of Kazakhstan Dmitry Mun on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana.
This will allow us to jointly train open small language models that can work locally, without the internet and supercomputers, directly in production or for farmers.
According to Mun, the national AI platform is actively used by civil servants to perform routine tasks. However, now the authorities are focused on introducing new technologies into the real sector of the economy.
According to the ministry, the level of digitalization in the social sphere, healthcare, and education is up to 95%. In industry, it is about 40%, and in agriculture, only 26% of data. To develop AI, it is necessary to use data arrays that take into account regional specifics, emphasized the Deputy Head of the Ministry of AI and Digital Development of Kazakhstan. Open industrial models of EAEU member countries could give a serious impetus in this direction.
Mun was supported by his Belarusian colleague Kirill Zalessky. According to the official, the union lacks synchronization of the regulatory environment and common standards for technological security. By uniting, EAEU countries could save budget funds on AI development, Zalessky believes. As a pilot sector of the economy for AI implementation, he proposed logistics. In this area, large arrays of structured data have been accumulated, concluded the representative of Belarus.
