The national carrier "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) has begun forming its own fleet to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). This was announced by the company's press service.
KTZ Express Shipping, a subsidiary, has signed contracts for the construction of universal dry cargo vessels for container transportation. Under the agreements, the Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipping Industry will build 4 vessels, and the Baku Shipyard will build 2.
The project aims to strengthen Kazakhstan's position on the TITR and form a sustainable maritime component of the route.
What the Vessels Will Be Like
River-sea class dry cargo vessels with a deadweight of up to 9,900 tons and a capacity of up to 537 TEU are adapted for operation in the Caspian and Black Seas. They will be equipped with advanced control and navigation systems. Bureau Veritas guarantees a high level of safety for the dry cargo vessels. The vessels will be able to operate on international routes.
