At the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) of the Kazakh National University (KazNU), a Telegram bot was developed to convert photos into 3D models. The entire processing takes several minutes. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
The tool was created in the DigitalEgiz laboratory for its own engineering tasks. With its help, specialists prepare objects for the "digital twins" project.
The solution is implemented on the computing power of ASUS Ascent GX10, equipped with the NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell chip.
The Telegram bot @img_2_3d_bot can be used to visualize educational materials and prepare presentations.
Project Manager Gulshat Amirkhanova stated that it will be useful for engineers and researchers in the field of natural sciences. While the Telegram bot is in test mode, the result depends on the following factors:
- photo resolution
- lighting of objects in the photo
- uniformity of the background
The resulting 3D models are for demonstration purposes only and are not suitable for projects where it is necessary to maintain scale and accuracy of details. The development team will improve the service, taking into account feedback from users.
