Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan Defines Industry Development Priorities Until 2028

Fiber-optic communication and 5G technologies (fifth-generation networks) will be implemented along key routes in Kazakhstan. This will create a foundation for the development of intelligent transport systems, according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the republic.

The ministry has defined priorities for the development of the road sector for 2026–2028, aimed at modernizing infrastructure, improving the quality of the road network, and strengthening the country's transit potential.

The concept includes the integration of road infrastructure with digital solutions. The implementation of these measures will improve the quality of the road network and ensure the sustainable development of transport infrastructure.

New Types of Road Surfaces

The department also announced a transition to a new type of surface. Gravel and crushed stone will be used as materials on access roads to small settlements. Cement concrete surfaces, which are highly resistant to the republic's climate, are planned for use on international routes.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan added that it is necessary to use domestic materials. In particular, polymer-modified bitumens of Kazakhstani production. The Kazakhstan Road Research Institute (KazdorNII) will be responsible for scientific and technical support. Institute employees participate in research on the effectiveness of cement concrete pavements, the introduction of new technologies and materials.
