More than 30 gaming MVPs were developed at Astana Hub in 5 days

The world's largest hackathon, Global Game Jam, took place in Kazakhstan

The final of the world’s largest game development hackathon, Global Game Jam Kazakhstan 2026, was held at the Astana Hub technology hub in Astana. The jury named the best game developers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.

In 5 days, participants created 34 full-fledged gaming products at the MVP level, ready for further development and acceleration.

The theme of the games in Kazakhstan was "Changing the Rules." The main venue of the event was Astana Hub, while participants from the regions joined via live broadcast.

Elina Kim, head of the GameDev Center Astana Hub, stated that Global Game Jam had become the foundation for creating a professional community. Thanks to the hackathon, a talented developer from Kazakhstan can make a name for themselves and find like-minded people, she added.

Results of Global Game Jam Kazakhstan 2026

The hackathon brought together 214 developers aged 12 to 51, who formed 99 teams. A total of 34 teams reached the final, presenting their own gaming MVPs (Minimum Viable Product, an early version of a product).

The jury named Square Team from Astana the winner. The game developers presented the project Bascule, which earned them a prize of 300,000 tenge.

Second place and 180,000 tenge also went to the Astana-based team Majestic Amadei. They presented the game Mask Huntress. The top three also included the team "Shelli Fa" (Astana) with the game The Soul of the Mask. The developers received a prize of 120,000 tenge.
